MEET GUTHRIE CHAMBERLAIN, PODCASTER

Guthrie’s podcast is a daily (7 day/week) podcast presenting daily wisdom from various sources for his listeners. HIs podcast episodes are generally seven minutes in length, and is getting lots of response from his listeners. Guthrie says the key lesson from his podcast is that if you’ll “be consistent and persistent in your daily walk of podcast and business,” you’ll earn and gain success.

He should know, he’s recently released his 100th episode of Wisdom-Trek.

Guthrie is the third oldest of ten children who married his college sweetheart 36 years ago, and has 6 grandchildren – complete with the obligatory grandchild photos.

GUTHRIE CHAMBERLAIN, PODCAST CASSETTES?

Saying his first podcasts were transmitted through cassette tape, with hosts like Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn and Earl Nightingale, Guthrie admits his passion for wisdom, and his desire to help others create their living legacy for the ages to come.

He now shares much of that wisdom he’s learned from teachers like Ziglar, Rohn and Nightingale, among others. Using his spreadsheet collection of more than 10,000 inspirational, wisdom or Scriptural-based quotes, Guthrie started collecting ideas in his Evernote documents what he might communicate with his listeners in a brief period of time.

GUTHRIE CHAMBERLAIN, ON A HIKE THROUGH LIFE

Using the “journey” analogy of life, Guthrie ties the quotes in his collection with many life truths to teach listeners more about the journey of life, using an outdoors, hiking motif.

“Wisdom comes from learning, but more from what you go through in life,” Guthrie explains. He says that anytime he has to teach he gains more than he puts into it.

PODCAST “SURPRISES” ON THE TREK TO WISDOM

Saying he’s had no surprises with his podcast. He is still a bit amazed at the amount of time it takes to produce a podcast episode (even a 7 minute show). He and his wife provide some book keeping services to other clients, but, sees the podcast as an investment into the future and the reach of the podcast with his business.

Eventually, he says, he’ll migrate his business consulting services into an online business consultancy business in the future.

BENEFITS OF PODCASTING FOR GUTHRIE CHAMBERLAIN

Guthrie says he’s getting positive response from his podcasting experience that keeps him active in producing his podcast. Each quarter, he plans to release a daily journal which matches the Wisdom-Trek as a product for sell starting next year. That practice is helping him structure his content, and is helping him monetize his content as quickly as possible.

Using his own children as his avatar, Guthrie says he will have the actual journal on one side of the page, along with another page that will give the customer lines where someone can write in to learn from the daily wisdom track content.

He’s seeing small growth already. At this point, he’s accepting the slow growth, while continuing work on setting up a group of consistent and persistent fans.

HOW GUTHRIE CHAMBERLAIN GOT INTO PARADISE

Guthrie says he started listening to John Lee Dumas around episode 300. As a long-time entrepreneur, he enjoyed the content of Entrepreneur on Fire. The podcast, and others in that genre helped him understand the value of podcasting to entrepreneurs.

Once he launched his show, the podcasters community on Facebook has been very valuable not just from what he’s learned from the members, but, what he’s had the opportunity to share with others behind him in the podcasting efforts.
